I arrived in NYC late on Thursday evening feeling a bit tired and ready to sleep after a good journey. I got 6 hours of sleep the first night and the second night, which was pretty ok. Since the marathon morning is going to be a very early one, it is perfectly fine for me to wake up super early also during the nights leading to the event.

I love visiting the marathon expos since that is the time when I start feeling the energy and excitement. Again, it was so much fun even though it was super crowded yesterday and I had to queue all together 90min to get in the area and pay my purchases (new shoes and top).

I have walked rather a lot just seeing and feeling the city, so now I need to relax and rest a little before tomorrow morning. Getting my gear in order and packing some snacks is still on the agenda, since it is going to be a few hours wait after I hop in the bus and before the race is on for me. My main target this time is just to enjoy the event and I hope I can run the route without major challenges. Wish me luck for tomorrow! I will write a thorough post after the marathon so stay tuned!

Why this blog

Welcome to my running blog, where I share some of my experiences. I am 47 year old mum, business leader and marathoner, who lives in Finland, Northern Europe and loves to practice and run year around. I have type 1 diabetes, which adds some extras to my training and racing. The more I run, the more I also want to read about other runners’ stories and since I haven’t found many European female marathoner blogs I started my own. The purpose for me here is to make my experiences more long-lasting by sharing and perhaps, boost another person’s journey.

Please note that I am not equipped to give any medical advice, so you should always consult your doctor specifically when planning your first marathon, if you have any physical restrictions.
